Since the establishment of the Central Azucarera de Bais in 1918, the Baldwin locomotive remained an integral factor as a stimulus of the growth and development of the sugar industry of Negros Oriental.

Directions From Dumaguete to Bais City

Bais is a popular tourist spot dolphin and whale watching. Just 45 minutes drive away from Dumaguete, you'll have the chance to see the dolphins and whales in the Tanon Strait between Bais and Cebu islands.  Don't miss a drive through the huge tunnel of ancient acacia trees and Spaninsh-influenced architechture of the plantation houses that welcomes visitors to Bais.

The 4 kilometer stretch of cane sandwiching the road is great experience and gives you a true taste of the beauty on the eastern side of the island.  It's also a great day-trip from Dumaguete for travelers renting a motorcycle or scooter in town.

Bais is located along the Dumaguete - Bacolod national road. From Dumaguete take a motor tricycle to the Ceres terminal. The terminal has buses either going to Bais or driving via. Every 30 minutes a bus takes off to Bais so you won't miss a ride. Once in Bais, eager tricycle drivers will give you a ride from the bus stop to your desired destination. It costs less than 30 pesos for a special ride.
